Sports tattooing – for injury prevention

The method of sports stretching is used to limit unwanted, potentially dangerous movements in the joints. Sports tattooing can be used for both prevention and rehabilitation purposes. For example, to avoid ankle sprain or dislocation, ankles are often tattooed in sports such as football and basketball. For rehabilitation purposes, stretching is used to protect the joint and soft tissues during their healing.

Sports teipping is used in many sports – such as team sports and athletics. A variety of sports teip products are available on the market. However, the best method to fix the joint and limit unwanted joint movements is to use a rigid (inelastic) traditional sports teip. A good sports teip is usually – firm (inelastic), well sticky, does not irritate the skin, and is easy to tear.

Sports teipping can be used to:

  • Stabilize joints
  • Limit unwanted, potentially dangerous or painful movements in the joints
  • Provide support for joints and ligaments that have been sprained or otherwise injured
  • Provide support to joints after a previous injury or at muscle imbalance (weak muscles)
  • Promote proprioception
  • Promote psychological confidence by returning to athletic activities
  • Sports teips can also be used to fix bandages, patches, as well as to protect the skin from irritation and friction.

How to do sports tattooing?

The method of stretching sports requires knowledge and experience. To obtain the desired effect, the sports teip must be correctly applied. Therefore, we offer a couple of practical tips that can be useful to everyone.

1) Make sure that the body part is clean – in order for the putty to adhere well and be applied well, the body part must be clean. For example, during a football game, it may be necessary to perform sports teasing. Sweat, dirt, moisture can adversely affect the application of putty. Therefore, it is important to take care that the part of the body to be stretched is clean.

2) Use a sub-teip – a sub-teip is a product of foam material that is intended as a base layer between the sports teip and the skin. The sub-teip is used to protect against irritation and friction. Applying a sub-teip also facilitates the application of the sports teip itself, as the sports teip adheres perfectly to the sub-teip. Applying a sub-teip will also make it easier to remove sports teips – making it painless and easier. When using a sub-teip, the sports putty does not stick to the skin itself, so it is relatively simple to remove it.

3 ) Use a puttying spray – it is intended before applying a sports tape. The puttying spray creates a thin layer on the skin, thereby protecting the skin from irritations and friction. As a rule, the puttying spray is waterproof, so it also protects the putty itself from moisture and sweating. This is especially important in parts of the body where the teip does not hold so well, for example, at the stretching of the shoulder joint or the stretching of the acryoclavicular joint.

4) Use putty scissors – to easily remove the teip after sports activities. Removing multiple layers, tightly applied teips tends to be difficult. Therefore, special putty scissors can significantly facilitate this process.
