Training at home does not need to be complicated or less effective than exercising at the gym. The key is to choose suitable exercises and high-quality training equipment that fits your goals.
BLACKROLL is one of the best-known brands in the field of self-massage, mobility and recovery equipment. Our range includes a wide selection of BLACKROLL products, including foam rollers, massage balls, fitness bands, vibration devices, vibrating foam rollers and massage guns.
BLACKROLL products are designed to be functional, durable and suitable for both everyday users and athletes. Most products are manufactured in Germany using durable and environmentally conscious materials, while the brand’s foam-rolling product range is designed to be fully recyclable.
What is BLACKROLL?
BLACKROLL positions itself as a lifestyle and movement brand with the aim of helping people move more freely, feel better and take care of their bodies over the long term.
In addition to training and self-massage equipment, the brand also offers products designed for sleep, recovery and everyday wellbeing. BLACKROLL places considerable emphasis on education, providing information about movement, self-massage, mobility and recovery.
BLACKROLL is a German-founded brand known internationally for its high-quality self-massage and movement products. Most of its products are manufactured in Germany according to strict quality standards and are designed for long-term use. Their durability, practical design and wide range of applications are among the reasons BLACKROLL products are used by physiotherapists, professional athletes and people who simply want practical tools for exercise and recovery.
What is fascia and why is it important?
Fascia is a network of connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels and other structures throughout the body. It contributes to movement, force transmission and the mechanical interaction between different tissues.
Fascia also contains many sensory receptors. However, a feeling of stiffness or tightness does not necessarily mean that the fascia itself has become physically shortened or “stuck”. Muscle fatigue, load, nervous-system sensitivity and reduced movement can all influence how stiff or uncomfortable a body area feels.
Foam rolling and self-massage can be useful as part of a warm-up or recovery routine. Research suggests that foam rolling may temporarily improve range of motion and reduce the subjective feeling of muscle stiffness or soreness without necessarily reducing strength or performance.
BLACKROLL products can be used to:
- reduce the feeling of muscle tightness;
- temporarily improve range of motion;
- support recovery routines after exercise;
- improve comfort after prolonged sitting or physical activity;
- prepare selected muscle groups for exercise.
Another self-care option is an acupressure mat or needle roller. Unlike a foam roller, these products provide more intensive superficial stimulation through multiple small applicators.
Which BLACKROLL product should you choose?
BLACKROLL offers different products for different levels of experience and different self-massage or training goals.
If you have never used a foam roller before, a softer model such as the BLACKROLL MED may be a good starting point. It provides gentler pressure and is particularly suitable for beginners or people who find standard foam rollers too intense.
For regular everyday use, the classic BLACKROLL STANDARD is a versatile option. It provides a good balance between pressure, comfort and control and can be used for most major muscle groups.
More experienced users and athletes who prefer firmer pressure may choose the BLACKROLL PRO. It is firmer than the STANDARD model and therefore produces more intensive pressure during self-massage.
In addition to traditional foam rollers, BLACKROLL also offers massage balls, DUOBALLS, MINI rollers, vibration devices and massage guns. Smaller tools are particularly useful for more targeted areas such as the feet, gluteal muscles, shoulders and muscles around the upper back.
Who are BLACKROLL products suitable for?
One of the main advantages of the BLACKROLL range is its versatility. These products are used not only by professional athletes but also by recreationally active people, office workers and people who simply want convenient tools for mobility and self-massage at home.
A foam roller may be useful for people who spend a lot of time sitting, feel stiff after a working day, regularly run, cycle or perform strength training, or simply want to include mobility and self-massage in their routine.
BLACKROLL products are also commonly used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation as supplementary tools. For example, a roller or massage ball may be used before mobility exercises or after training if it helps the person move more comfortably.
It is important to remember that a foam roller does not replace rehabilitation, progressive strength training or treatment of an injury. Its main role is as a practical self-massage and recovery tool that can complement an active exercise programme.

Is it worth using a foam roller even if nothing hurts?

Physiotherapist
Yes. A foam roller does not need to be used only when something hurts. A few minutes of comfortable rolling after training or a long working day can temporarily reduce the feeling of stiffness and help you feel more mobile. I mainly view it as an optional addition to movement and exercise rather than something that must be done every day.
