The Neurotrac TENS electrostimulation device is a compact, digital dual-channel pain relief device in TENS mode. TENS (transcutaneous periodic electrical nerve stimulation with electrodes) helps reduce chronic or acute pain by blocking the pain signal in the brain.
TENS does not treat problematic physiological conditions; It only helps control the perception of pain. TENS does not work for every user. However, physiotherapists and doctors worldwide widely prescribe TENS, and it is generally believed to work for most users. There are millions of small nerve fibers throughout the body, and only a few impulses are needed to cause chronic pain. In addition to the small fibers that allow the sensation of pain, the body is also made up of nerve fibers of larger diameter. These larger nerve fibers transmit less unpleasant sensations, such as touch or warmth, helping us form an impression of the surrounding environment. Stimulating the largest nerve fibers using TENS can inhibit pain transfer along the smaller nerve fibers to the spinal cord [known as the “Pain gate theory”].
